Frequently Asked Questions
Not sure what Naturopathy is? Here are some frequently asked questions so you can be informed.
What is Naturopathy
Naturopathy utilises natural options to support the bodies own healing capabilities. Basing one of its priciples on ‘Do No Harm’ Naturopathy aims to complement any current treatment or assist the body in achieving its own sense of wellbeing. Using evidence based approaches with herbal and nutritional medicines, you know that you can use other options which can be effective in achieving an overall balanced wellbeing through physical, mental and emotional aspects.
How can Naturopathy help me?
Herbs can communicate with and support the body in unique ways when compared to conventional medicine. As an example there are multiple herbs which can support the adrenal glands which can either boost energy, sooth out anxieties or give enduring support. Naturopathy understands that everyone experiences health in unique ways so no treatment will be the same. Having a trained professional tailor make the treatment to your needs may give that extra support to get back on top of its own wellbeing.
Herbs and Nutritional supplements are natural so I can take anything cant I?
Herbs and Nutritional supplements can be natural, but the dosage at which you ingest them may be different to what you would normally have in a diet. For this reason its important to have a trained eye to oversee the dosages are suitable for the duration of time taken especially when it comes to younger ages!
Will this interact with any of my medications?
Both Herbs and Nutrients have an effect on the body just like conventional medicine. For this reason it is always important to check the foods, teas and natural supplements are not interacting with your medications. Yes, even Grapefruit can interact with your medication!
Can I see anyone for naturopathic advice?
Within Australia Naturopaths are self regulated by associations which represent the natural heath industry within the governmental system. To ensure you are seeing a trained professional you can ask for their credential background and if they are associated with any representative groups.
Can I claim any sessions on my private health fund?
As of April 2019, the government passed down decisions where rebates cant be given for a range of natural health care supports including Naturopathy. However due to the exclusion criteria and the large amounts of evidence based medicine utilised within naturopathic practise a re-evaluation is currently in process. Here’s hoping Naturopaths will be reinstated once again!

What is Orthobionomy?
Orthobionomy is a gentle technique whereby the practitioner uses soft pressure and movements in order to re-engage the clients own bodies’ self corrective reflexes. In other words the practitioner creates a space for the body to feel comfortable in releasing ‘bad’ patterns and encouraging its own healing. Afterall, the body knows how to heal itself, sometimes it just needs to be given the opportunity to do so.
Will I experience Pain?
Orthobionomy works within the comfort levels of the client. Communication is key within this session, as Emma will aim to overexaggerate the bodies comfortable positions so the body can further unwind relax and heal. The more comfortable the better!
Will I need to remove any clothing?
Clients can remain fully dressed, however for the ease of treatment unrestrictive clothing such as loose fitted clothes or exercise clothing is best.
What do I Do to continue care after a treatment?
Plenty of rest, sleep and water! When working with the nervous system we want to create a relaxing time to heal and grow for new movement and holding patterns to take place.
What Can I expect from one Session?
Everyone has different responses to Orthobionomy. This may depend on the amount of healing and pattern changes the body initiates. Though no pain/discomfort is felt during the session, some unusual discomfort (similar to growing pains) for around three to five days following have been reported. This may be due to three days being needed for new neural pathways to be formed so the body can adapt and learn new ways to move comfortably.
How Often Should I book an orthobionomy session?
For chronic situations, it may be recommended to at first have weekly sessions and then extend to fornight and monthly sessions. Emma recommends to always listen to the body as to when the next session is needed as each healing experience will be unique for everyone.
